We're back with another behind-the-scenes look at the Bennett Racing HQ – it's a double one this time as I clearly forgot to post Decembers...

Resurrection 🐦‍🔥

We dug through the stores and resurrected the original fuel tank from when we first imported the car from the USA.

LOVE this.

Just looks right 😁

Workshop Progress

Ignition tray remake

We needed more room for the MSD PowerGrid, so the tray was redesigned and remade. Really pleased with how this came out.

Fuse box shown - only 1 wire out (Data Logger) for now.

K&N Filters housing mounted

Space utilised 100%, and it’s well clear of the MSD tray for easy servicing between rounds.

Wiring… and more wiring

LOTS sorted. Still a load to go — but as with everything, doing it right takes time.

RPM Performance Data Logger

Fully wired and working. The momentary switch triggers recording perfectly — green light ✅

= job done. Very pleased with this.

Also dug out the tool tray that Forge Motorsport made for us a few years ago. So useful. Thanks again Forge.

Introduced the boy to polishing aluminium, he did a great job on the puke tank. Sure the Autoglym metal polish helped 😅

Waste not, Want not ⚙️

Idler plate V2.0, couldn’t use the other idler plate I originally made for the other car due to this engine having a front mag drive.

But I still really wanted idler support, so it true ‘waste not, want not’ spirit, used an old rod and machined to fit perfectly.

Back side will still use the ARP bolts too.

Another job ticked off.

Shout out to K&N Filters for seeing our original post then reaching out with the offer of one of their inline filters for the car. Really appreciate it.

They’re available for in various sizes and flow up to 18 gallons per minute. Plenty for us.

Ongoing prototype v1.0

Finished prototype of the initial design completed. LOVE this, can't wait to see it mocked up on the injector...

Design ques from modern carbon fibre NHRA funny car injectors.

Design 2 will be mirrored top to bottom - and both will be tested in anger on the car once complete.

We need support 🩼

Mag clamp/support made this morning, this was needed, the Mag itself weighs just under 5lbs and that's a lot of weight hanging out the side as it does...

Pleased with this, MSD Pro Mag going nowhere.
