Relentless Fuel Altered History
In the late 1980's the chance to buy a Steve Plueger built NHRA alcohol funny car from east coast racer Ed Parker was too much of an offer to resist. The car before that was the famous Boston Strangler owner by Arnie Karp.
Originally known on the NHRA tafc circut as 'Cape Codder', the 1986 Oldsmobile Firenza body was sold in favour of the 1932 Fiat Topolino replica body that we still use to this day.
This is an early photo, from the 1992 Main event when we left the car white just to get some track time.
This photo was taken at Santa Pod in around 1994 before we fitted the rear wing. As in the early days we only ran 175mph or thereabouts. When we started to get faster the rear wing was essential and transformed the car.
This was when we ran in Top Alcohol.
This is a photo from Avon Park (now Shakespeare County Raceway) from about 1996. This was when we ran in the Supercharged Outlaws where we were very successful.
Best E.T to date was a 7.031
This is from 2005 when we ran colours of the Car Clinic. 2005 was our first year our since 2001 so we took it easy.
Best ET was a 7.11 at only 186mph
This is the car in its 2007 colours, great year for us, we got our first 6 second run, our first 200mph+ run,
Best ET was a 6.901 at 195mph
During 2008 we TOTALLY rebuilt the car, its pretty much all new. Came out half way through the year and even came 3rd in out first outing.
Did another first too, a 0.991 60 foot time on the first pass.
Which brings me to now, great season in 2009, 3 out of 4 events wins, first event of the year we ran our first 6 with the rebuilt car, a 6.90 then an easy 6.63 to win the event. The next event we ran four back to back 6's, a 6.65, 6.69, 6.42 and a 6.57. All with a very safe tune and low rpm runs.
Best ET was an easy 6.42 at only 191mph
