Well, progress is really starting to come along on the SuperPower Bantam, we have just started to fit the timing case to the block, bit of a job as my block is a Gen 6 block and the timing case is of MKIV design. It was not so much of a problem - all we needed to do was install a cam and the crank to line up to the cover correctly, then to drill and tap the block to fit studs.
The next job after that will be to trial-fit most of the engine, as I have a job lot of parts on the way from the USA, some which are used (not old junk) and some new. I must say a big thank you to JR at RBS who has searched high and low for me and answered lots of questions. If you need parts check them out, he is very helpful. I can’t wait to get the parts over here; there is nothing better than a load of parts arriving.
I do still need a few parts though if anyone reading can help? Including – fire system (suitable for Super Pro), BBC Tilton (or equivalent) starter.
Finally, our www.bretitanium.com starter jaws are now available for both PSI and roots superchargers, weighing in 45% lighter than the steel equivalent. These will not only lighten your race car but will greatly help with rotational weight and blower belt breakages. For any questions regarding these, please contact us at info@bretitanium.com. We are also following up the starter jaws with a billet aluminium crank support for any big block Chevy motors, with the hub which again we can make from heat treated chrome moly or of course grade 5 titanium, both lighter (the titanium version is easier to remove) and with less rotational weight on the crank.
We're also going to start making Junior dragster parts, so if anyone is interested, please send us an email so we can gauge the best products to make or if there is a product that is needed and you want to know if we can make it, let us know at info@bennettracing.co.uk.
