Thanks to all for reading our blogs so far, hope they give something of interest!
Things are going pretty well here; we had a good day in workshop on Saturday. We got the puke tank fitted onto the SuperPower Bantam, and also made a little tray for electronics and switches etc, initially from carbon fibre first but then we really didn't like it so we remade it from aluminium sheet and were a lot happier with the end result.
What is a puke tank, you might be asking; it's basically an overflow/vent tank, which is connected to the chassis rails which in turn are connected to breathers from the valve covers of the engine. This allows the motor to breath and vent crankcase pressure. Usually we get a whisper of oil and a bit of unburnt fuel when the motor is set up very rich.
We are hopefully replacing the one shown in the photo with two new ones (one for each car) which will be made as ever by Forge Motorsport.
Also shown is a photo of our recently purchased carbon fibre valve covers for the SuperPower Bantam altered; we are very happy with these, they should look really nice on the car and should complement the rest pretty well.
We also started to fit the new roll cage to the DarkSide slingshot. We reduced the height by around four inches which so far has given the car a much better stance and doesn't look so out of proportion. We also managed to move the engine and gearbox back about four inches too, which will give the car better weight distribution. We're also fitting a T6 aluminium motor plate and making new chrome moly engine mounts which will greatly improve the car, especially on the launch.
