As I always write, and is probably very boring, weeks have somehow passed since our last blog update. We have been very busy but not with building our race cars, all we have been doing is clearing up and having a good sort out of the workshop!
But we have managed to sort it so that tools are easier to find, machines easier to access; we also installed our new large metal shear, our new sheet metal bender, and our new bead roller, all courtesy of Chronos Engineering, thanks guys, believe me these will all get some use. Also, a lot of other things have been going on at Bennett Racing.
Since the last blog update, we also attended the JDM ALLSTARS event at Wembley Stadium, thanks to the invite from www.Fueltopia.co.uk to appear on their stand. What a great day this was, we really were made to feel welcome and it was great to see a drag car at a drifting event. The car got incredible interest from everyone there and we were pretty sure that 99% of those there took a photo of the car...great for us, but also great for the sport of drag racing. We will constantly be plugging where we race, Santa Pod and Shakey, letting people know where they can see our great sport.
Plus as a benefit of the day, we have since been in talks with the guys at Fueltopia and they are to become 'Partners' to Bennett Racing, more to come on this very soon.
Some other fantastic news is that thanks to some very hard work of Bennett Racing's crew member Joe (thanks Joe), we have managed to get Relentless, and possibly with the funny car body also, into a wind tunnel, this will give us some great data and will teach us a huge amount. And hopefully, in turn as is our aim, to go as fast as we can.
We have done a little bit of the SuperPower Bantam altered in the last few weeks; one of the headers is now complete and looks pretty good and fits in with the stance of the car very well. We have just got to finish the other one now. Whilst writing about the SuperPower Bantam, there are some parts we really need to progress with the build, if people have them out there please?
- Fuel pump extension, - 4 or 6 inch will work
- Engine diaper - no tag needed
- 110 or 990 fuel pump
- Idler pulley (to suit 13.9mm belt)
- System 1 fuel filter
- Fire bottle system
- Waterman #8 3 way fuel pump shut off
- Starter cage and guard to fit BDS blower
- Burndown breathers
- Blower restraint header brackets and pins
- Big block chevy timing pointer
- System 1 billet block adapter to fit Gen 6 block (mount that allows to -12 hoses to be run from the engine block to the remote oil filter mount)
- Tilton BBC starter
Finally, as well our www.bretitanium.com starter jaws are now available for both PSI and roots superchargers, weighing in 45% lighter than the steel equivalent. These will not only lighten your race car but will greatly help with rotational weight and blower belt breakages. For any questions regarding these, please contact us at info@bretitanium.com. We are also following up the starter jaws with billet aluminium crank support for any big block Chevy motors, with the hub which again we can make from heat treated chrome moly or of course grade 5 titanium, both lighter (easier to remove) and less rotational weight on the crank.
